Bodaybo Airport

UIKB / ODO

Description

Bodaibo Airport: A Crucial Regional Aviation Nexus Nestled within the town of Bodaibo, in the expansive Irkutsk Region, lies Bodaibo Airport—a pivotal hub for regional aviation. This airport plays a vital role in maintaining consistent air connectivity with the regional center, Irkutsk, situated approximately 882 kilometers away. Beyond its role as an aerial lifeline to Irkutsk, Bodaibo Airport serves as the principal transportation artery for the Bodaibo district, complementing the somewhat challenging terrestrial route of Bodaibo-Taksimo spanning 240 kilometers, which is beset with infrastructural inadequacies. Bodaibo Airport's illustrious history traces its origins back to 1944 when it was first commissioned as a land-based facility. Prior to this transformation, the region had relied on a hydro-airport for its aviation needs.

Features
  1. Aircraft Movement: Aircraft at this aerodrome effectuate locomotion on the airfield through taxiing using their own engine thrust. Taxiing to and from Parking Locations: Aircraft taxiing and towing operations are exclusively executed along prescribed taxi routes, meticulously adhering to designated markings. The act of taxiing to and from all Movement Control Points (MCs) is accomplished utilizing the propulsive force generated by the aircraft's onboard engines. The onus of adhering to these taxiing protocols rests with the commanding pilot, whereas overall taxiing safety oversight falls within the purview of the designated personnel responsible for taxiing in the allocated zone. pron: The apron is situated to the southeast of the runway and is surfaced with asphalt concrete. It bears standard daytime markings and is illuminated by searchlights during nocturnal hours. In the southwestern region of the apron, MCs are situated.
  2. Training, Practice, and Technical Test Flights, Runway Utilization: Training and practice flights for fixed-wing aircraft are executed above the airfield, adhering to the predetermined instrument flight plans or under Air Traffic Control (ATC) guidance. Helicopter training flights are conducted on prepared sites selected from aerial vantage points. Restrictions on Helicopter Operations: Taking off of helicopters from the designated site is proscribed under the following conditions: 1) A previously departing helicopter has not completed its initial turn, and 2) Adequate separation from a landing helicopter is not assured.
  3. Procedures for Flight within the Air Traffic Control Zone: Unless explicitly authorized by Bodaibo Aerodrome ATC authority, flights within the Bodaibo Aerodrome air traffic control zone are conducted in accordance with Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) or Visual Flight Rules (VFR). IFR flights adhere to prescribed altitude and lateral spacing protocols as directed by ATC. The onus of maintaining stipulated separation between aircraft and the assignment of safe altitudes falls under the purview of the ATC authority. Pilots are empowered to modify their flight levels (altitude) in cases of compromised flight safety, such as adverse weather conditions or aircraft malfunctions, with immediate notification to ATC. Radar Control and ATS Utilizing Primary Surveillance Radar: Primary Surveillance Radar (PSR) is available on an uninterrupted basis. Radar Control and ATS Utilizing Secondary Surveillance Radar: Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR) services are accessible continuously. Within the dispatch zone and along the pre-landing trajectory, aircraft flights are monitored by ORL-A. Procedures for precision landing approaches via surveillance radar and Landing Radar (LRS) are not applicable. Procedures for ABI (Visual Flight Rules) Flights: Precision Visual Piloting (PVP) flights are exclusively conducted under visual meteorological conditions in compliance with prevailing regulations governing flight operations within Russian airspace. Notes: Maneuvering north of the airfield via visual means is strictly prohibited.
