Description
Remezov (IATA: RMZ, ICAO: USTJ) is a new airport in Tobolsk with a class B airfield. It is located in Tobolsk district of Tyumen region, southeast of Irtyshaty Yurty village. It is part of the Russian airport holding company Airports of Regions.
Construction of the new airport began in 2018, 15 km from the existing one, in parallel with the operation of the existing landing pad, used only for intra-regional helicopter technical flights.
The airport is designed to accommodate aircraft such as the SuperJet 100, Airbus A320, Boeing 737 and others. As a result of the "Tobolsk wings" popular vote, the airport was named after the Siberian historian and cartographer Semyon Remezov.
The first technical flight the airport received on March 24, 2020, it was performed by the AN-148 aircraft of the special flight group "Russia".
The test flight took place on September 24, 2021. The airport received a passenger flight from Moscow by Severo-Zapad Airlines. The plane Airbus A321 neo arrived guests of honor, among them the head of Rosaviatsiya Alexander Neradko. According to the aviation tradition the first flight to the new airport was met by a water arch from fire hoses.
